Calderdale Music Trust is able to use its expertise in music education to provide a range of CPD and training services for schools and other organisations across Calderdale.
We are proud to be hosting the first Calderdale Music Education Hub Conference on May at the Shay - this will be a complete package for music education CPD in 2016 - more details available here.
We can provide a tailored package of CPD to suit the musical needs of your school. To discuss or arrange a package contact [email protected] .
In addition, from February 22nd, 2016 until the end of the school year, we are offering a limited number of free, school based CPD sessions on the following topics:
Given the plethora of assessment methodologies available, one bit of OFSTED guidance shines through - that musical assessment should be couched in the 'language' of music. Investigate easy, effective ways of keeping the focus of assessment on musical progress that is easy for pupils to understand and respond to. The emphasis of this session will be on developing techniques that can easily be integrated with any school's assessment requirements.
Ever wondered how to get the most out of your glockenspiels and xylophones? A few easy, practical lesson ideas for making the most of tuned percussion with a focus on integrating composition and appraisal (listening) activities with performance. Sessions will cover ways of differentiating tasks and coping with a mix of instruments.
An ideal session for those looking to develop their confidence in leading practical musical activities in the classroom. Look at common techniques for introducing musical tasks, managing musical equipment, managing performing pieces in different parts, coping with differentiation and easy ways of developing a task.
Sessions can be booked via an appointment with the Music Trust - please contact [email protected]. Sessions are suitable for music coordinators and classroom teachers/TAs who deliver music and would like to develop their confidence and range of skills. Sessions will be tailored to suit the experience of the staff involved. There will be appropriate subsequent 'followup' support for each session where appropriate.
