Coming from a folk background in South Wales, music has been a big part of Jenny's life since early childhood. She began violin lessons in school at the age of 8 and lessons at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama at 12. Passing Grade 8 violin with merit and Grade 6 piano at 16, she progressed through the Gwent and Forest of Dean county orchestras. At 17 Jenny began teaching violin and ran a local string group, as well as playing for medieval banquets at Caldicot Castle, weddings and a number of theatre productions.
Since graduating with a BA in Music from the University of Exeter, Jenny has continued to play a variety of genres with the occasional professional performance. She returned to teaching violin and piano in 2014 and is keen to inspire and encourage a new generation of young musicians. She particularly enjoys working with students with learning difficulties and combining different musical influences to make violin tuition more accessible and varied.
Outside of teaching, Jenny plays and sings in a folk rock band and a country band, does youth work in North Manchester and is learning to play guitar.
