Bridgid played violin in the Staffordshire County Youth Orchestra for many years and sang in an adult choir. She studied at Sheffield City College of Education gaining a Certificate of Education followed by a BEd from Sheffield University.
She spent many years teaching in Rochdale in two Middle Schools, becoming a Head of Music responsible for all the musical performances throughout the year. Following the closure of Middle Schools she moved to a High School teaching music and some general subjects. She then worked for a time as a curriculum teacher for Rochdale Music Service and as a supply teacher in primary schools in Calderdale. In 2006 she joined Calderdale Music Trust (formerly Calderdale Music Service) as a string and piano teacher and now is also the Musical Director for Saturday Strings and Saturday Stars.
She has played violin in the Huddersfield Philharmonic Orchestra for over 30 years and also plays in the Valley Sinfonia accompanying the Holmfirth Choral Society. Over the years she has played in a variety of orchestras including the Northern Baroque Orchestra and the Oldham Symphony Orchestra.
